The case for a car-free quayside

Three summers of trials say the same thing, writes Eleanor Voss.

Three summers of Sunday closures have told us what a quayside without cars is like: busier, quieter and better for the shops that were most afraid of it. It is time to stop calling it a trial.

The objections are real and they are about parking. They can be answered with a shuttle and a car park that already exists behind the station.
